Dr. Kristin Caudy
Dr. Kristin Caudy graduated from Miami University in 1995 with a B.S. in
Zoology. After several years in a Research and Development position for
Proctor & Gamble, she returned to the Ohio State University for her Doctorate
in Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation Dr. Caudy worked as an emergency
veterinarian at Capital Referral and Emergency Service, but she missed the
relationship that develops between a veterinarian and patient during regular
visits to the vet hospital. She left emergency practice for a general practice
position in Westerville where she enjoyed bonding with her patients and their
owners. While there she also worked as the veterinarian for over 10 shelters
and rescue organizations and had the privilege to be a veterinarian for the
working dogs of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Having lived in the Tri-Village Area for over 10 years, Dr. Caudy’s goal is to
bring the highest standard of veterinary care to the area’s pets. Her goal for
Village Gate Animal Hospital and Pet Resort is to provide both preventative
wellness care and treatment for ill animals as well.
Dr. Caudy currently lives in Hilliard with her husband, daughter and son. They
share their house with two dogs (a Golden Retriever named Frank and an Elkhound
named Guinness), three cats (Poppet, Violet and Hi-Yah) and multiple fish.

Dr. Michelle Leatham
Dr. Leathem grew up in Milan, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. Her
family home was located on 5 acres which allowed her to participate
in 4-H for 10 years showing livestock such as dairy goats, sheep,
and poultry. Her involvement in 4-H peeked her interest in veterinary
medicine at a very early age. After high school she attended The Ohio
State University where she majored in Animal Sciences and graduated
with a B.S. in Agriculture in 2007. That fall she started veterinary
school at Ohio State and planned on becoming a large animal
veterinarian. During her final year of veterinary school Dr.
Leathem found that small animal medicine was her primary area of
interest due to the close relationship that she can develop with
her clients and patients.
Dr. Leathem aims to practice the highest quality of medicine for her
patients at Village Gate Animal Hospital and Pet Resort. Her current
areas of interest include internal medicine and soft-tissue surgery.
Dr. Leathem began working as a veterinary assistant at Village Gate
Animal Hospital and Pet Resort when it first opened its doors in 2005. She
currently resides in Upper Arlington where she lives with her two cats
Big and Byron, both of which she adopted while working at Village Gate. Big
was found wondering down the sidewalk in downtown Columbus with multiple
burns to his body and was brought in for treatment by a very concerned
client. Byron was brought in to Village Gate as an 8 week old kitten
as part of a trap, neuter, release program, but with his big personality
he easily convinced Dr. Leathem to take him home with her.

“I valued my work for almost a decade in the private sector as an engineer and
manager, and felt privileged to teach high school and college students the
valuable subject of mathematics for nearly a decade. Now, I have moved on to
my dream job of working with animals and using my vast background to help those
that can’t speak, including those that are underprivileged. Every part of my
background, the engineering, management, teaching and law, allow me to take care
of all the behind the scenes efforts at Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet
Resort. I am happy to be a part of that team that takes care of your companion
animals, and look forward to growing Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort
into a premier animal care facility.”
