Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort is happy to work with the
following organizations to provide veterinary care for animals in
need. The doctors at Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort believe
giving back to the community by working with animals who are less
fortunate is an important part of who we are. Please note that each
organization listed below is a separate and distinct organization and
their officers and members are solely responsible for the policies they
set. Village Gate Animal Hospital & Pet Resort is happy to assist each
one of these organizations as we believe in the causes they represent. So
if you have spare time, money or pet care items, consider helping out one
of these organizations (or the many like them) that are tackling issues
like pet abuse, homelessness, puppy mills, unwanted pets, feral animals,
etc. You may be surprised at how much your assistance is valued. To

Rescues We Work With
Ohio Pug Rescue
Ohio Pug Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all-volunteer organization operating a
surrender, foster care, and placement program for all Pugs in Ohio - no matter their
age, condition, or health.
We hope that if you decide a Pug is for you, you will consider adopting a rescue dog.
They are wonderful animals who have run into circumstances beyond their control and
now find themselves in need of a new home with people who are willing to make a
commitment to them for the rest of their lives.
Golden Endings Golden Retriever Rescue
Golden Endings: Golden Retriever Rescue (GEGRR) is dedicated to the
welfare of homeless Golden Retrievers who have entered the rescue
program for a variety of reasons. They come from dog shelters,
veterinarians, animal control officers or were found roaming the
streets. Owners who are unable to keep their pets often contact us
for assistance.
Golden Endings is staffed by volunteers and is a registered non-profit
corporation under Title 501(3)(c) serving the central Ohio and
southeastern Ohio areas. There are several dozen Golden Retriever
rescue organizations operating in the United States at this time. These
rescue groups have been formed in response to the high numbers of
pure-bred dogs who have populated dog shelters. People do abandon
pure-bred dogs!
Hand Me Down Dobes, Inc.
Hand Me Down Dobes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization staffed by
a dedicated group of volunteers committed to saving homeless Dobermans
and placing them into suitable, loving homes. Many have been abandoned
or abused, and need a tremendous amount of care and rehabilitation. This
is made possible through the generosity of private donations,
sponsorships and grants. In addition to monetary donations, Hand Me
Down Dobes is in constant need of other items as well. Please see
our wish list to see other ways to help out.
Cat Welfare Association
The Cat Welfare Association is a non-profit organization that's objective
has always been to promote better care and understanding of cats while providing
for the physical welfare of homeless cats and kittens.
Cat Welfare also maintains a low cost Altering Fund for pet owners who are in
need of financial assistance to help get their pet(s) spayed or neutered. The
purpose of the fund is : 1) to help in the constant battle against pet
overpopulation, and 2) to help provide a healthier and happier life for cats. In
2009, Cat Welfare's Altering Fund and free clinics helped 2,663 cats (and 23,614
since 1990) get this important surgery.
Elkhound Rescue
JNMRF is an all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue of Norwegian
elkhounds and elkhound mixes. Incorporated in 2003, they are a 501c3
organization and work with volunteers around the country to find caring,
loving homes for these dogs. They do not have a kennel or shelter to
house dogs so they depend on volunteer foster families for holding dogs
until they are adopted. The fund provides money to pay for shelter fees,
spaying and neutering, heartworm checks, vaccinations, medical treatment,
temporary housing and transportation in its effort to find homes for these dogs.
